This idea is not a very good…if a country invest in science and technology, math is very essential since it involves analyzing of situations and problems that might occur during developments and even politics studies math and science to help them solve or help them in analyzing problems…

Duh!!! If Chiz doesn't want to study math or maybe experienced failing in math…then he shouldn't involve Filipinos in his misery!!! Mathematics in primary and secondary education is just a preparation for college…

I hate math but I slowly realized its importance in everyday life…even carpenters know how important math is to their job, even fishermen and farmers…

Waaaaahhhh! Sumakit ang ulo ko dun sa sinabi ni Chiz! Simula pa lang di ko na xa gusto at hindi ako nagkamali. Sino ba kasi may sabing cute xa? Tama nga na malayo ang mukha ni Bamboo sa kanya dahil sa Bamboo ay makinis. Im sorry guys I know kung ano ang topic di ko lang maalis ang laitin xa kasi iritang-irita na talaga ako sa sobrang pagpapacute niya sa TV eh hindi naman xa cute! Besides we need a true leader at hindi pa-cute na leader dahil sa totoo lang walang utak ang taong pa-cute!

Ang TANGA-TANGA niya (Grrrrr!) pati mga kabataang na siyang pag-asa ng bayan ay gusto niyang idamay sa katangahan niya. Ganun ata talaga, naghahanap ng karamay para hindi xa nag-iisa sa mundo!

Hindi ako matalino at dahil dun limitado lang ang kakayahan ko pero ayaw kong mangyari ang ganun sa karamihan. Kung pede lang maging magaling at mahusay ang lahat ng Pinoy para tuluyan na tayong umunlad.

ok tong idea na to. efficient use of time ng mga students. pwedeng may higher math electives as well as higher english electives. so ung mga ayaw sa higher math, punta na lang sa higher english.

1. Read the excerpt well especially the date. He was, THEN, a representative/congressman. He addressed his speech, several times, to "MR. SPEAKER".
2. If you are a doctor, i might believe you… I am and you're not. The discipline learned in mathematics (its inherent logical property) has helped a lot.
3. Which is more "essential", mathematics or filipino? Your comment can answer the question… your english is good but its logic is shaky.

His career as a law-maker proves Chiz' disinterest to mathematics. Kaya pala madaming politicians and 'di marunong mag manage ng finances nila. Hindi nila alam kung magkano ang para sa tao at magkano ang para sa bulsa nila.

Global competitiveness requires educated people… the Philippines is now way behind India in this area. I agree with the Bicolano Senator in changing a large chunk in the present curriculum…but definitely not taking out mathematics subjects enumerated in his speech.

First, He's not a congressman. He's a senator.
And, Basically this is not to undermine the quality of education, it is about highlighting it so that it would be effective.
I think this proposal is brilliant at best. It is because you really have to factor and to address the importance of these subjects. And if these subjects should be part of the what we so call essentials. For example, you'll be teaching geometry to a high school student, But that student would end up as a doctor, clearly he would not use that in his major subjects(Exclude prerequisite subjects.)
This simply points out that we should only teach the essentials and leave the special subjects where they will be future used. (ie engineering would use geometry or trigonometry then leave it to those courses)
To his defense, He is actually smart. We need thinkers in todays wretched government

Gaya nga ng sinabi ng isang propesor noon na nagseminar sa eskwelahan namin, ang pinopropose dapat nila e yung mga anak (AS IN LAHAT, kahit may 2nd, 3rd family pa) ng mga pulitiko DAPAT paaralin sa public school. Bakit? Kasi sa sitwasyon ng mga public schools ngayon, binabalewala ng mga pulitiko ung sitwasyon ng systemang pang edukasyon ng bansa. Kung paaaralin nila ung mga anak nla sa mga paaralang ito, cguro magkkaroon cla ng KUSANG LOOB para mapabuti ang edukasyon sa Pilipinas lalo na sa public school. Kung ikaw ba naman, paaaralin mo ang anak mo sa mga eskwelahang ito, di mo ba gugustuhin na lahat ng dapat ng pangangailangan nila ay matutugunan?

kung ginawa mong elective yan pare wala na kukuha nyan. Kung kaya kasi pumili ng madali para pumasa lang gagawin. Kahit sa UPd ganun. Tatanungin muna kung sino madaling prof un kukunin but of course marami pa ring prof kang madadaanan na terror talaga na hindi mo pwede mapili.

Anyway, magiging cycle yan. Sino na lang mangangarap na maging engineer/doktor/lawyer/etc na mahirap kung kahit man lang sa HS eh hindi nakatikim ng matinding math or science? Isa pa pare, ang HS at Elem para yan maihanda ang mga bata para pumili ng kurso, testing ground kumbaga. Kung magaling ka sa math pwedeng engineering/BA/Science courses yun ipursue mo.

PUNTO: ANG PAGPILI BA NG KURSO NA TATAHAKIN AY MAGMUMULA SA MGA FIRST YEAR HS? KAYA BA NILA ITO (around 10yo)? KASI KAILANGAN MO NA PAG-ISIPAN KUNG ANO ELECTIVE KUKUNIN EH AT MGA HINDI. HHHMMM… I REALLY THINK THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE.

BOTTOMLINE: MALI KA CHIZ! Naku taga UP ka pa man din. kahiya!
