My tatay used to sprinkle the powder to my wounds when I was a bit younger. It’s something that he learned from my lolo. I think it’s Penicillin.

Taking any drugs without a doctor’s prescription is definitely a no-no.

I had this prescribed when I had a tooth infection. Damn did wonders for me. My back cleared from any pimples and my face was the best it looked since I was a kid! LOL

To add, if you take antibiotics without doctors advise, and you take higher dose more than the usual dosage you take,you tend to be resistant to that certain drug already, hence, you need to take a higher dose of drug, that’s why it is harmful… There are a lot of antibiotics and it is also the most harmful drug classification of all, for me. ex links? hehe

amoxicillin is different from penicillin… Penicillin, though also an antibiotic is the drug of choice for open wounds… The only drug classifications that are used with no prescriptions needed are ibuprofen, anti-inflammatory, and analgesics like paracetamol…

hmm interesting…sprinkling amoxicillin on the wound worked for me…whenever i have wounds that don’t seem to heal, i sprinkle amox, and the wounds heal in a day or two.

i read in a forum once about a medical practitioner saying that when she was assigned in some poor country and supplies were limited, they sprinkled amox on the patients’ wounds instead of having the patients take amox orally…it reduced cost for the patient and the limited amox supply lasted a long way and helped more people…

tho of course i agree that we shouldn’t take amox as casually as we do OTC medicines

So putting that in an open wound does not help in any way. That’s informative, thanks! I just remembered that my mom believes in that kind of things. She usually have amoxicillin put in an open wound in hope that it would heal immediately.

So we basically can’t use it for just a simple headache or a mild fever. Then.. what is the most advisable medicine that we can take if we have such ailments?
