The Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2007 Dinner

Pasado na ba ang panga ko, Coy?

I initially planned on waiting for people to blog about last night’s event so I could leech pictures from them, but since Rick Manzano of Project Manila has yet to post his shots (and yeah, his domain expired! it’s back on!), I’ll have to post my thoughts about the event devoid of photos – at least for the time being.

Before going further, I would like to share that something catastrophic happened! My Feedburner subscribers dwindled to half overnight! I need help! Pad my stats. Hehe. Click here and subscribe! Thanks.

I didn’t expect to arrive in time for the Max’s dinner, but fortunately, our afternoon case presentation for gastrointestinal pathologies ended early – it was supposed to end 5 PM but we were off by 330. After taking a quick shower (you know, to wash off the potentially fatal pathogens that stick to medical student throughout the course of the day), I hopped on to the LRT and MRT. I went straight to Max’s and just when I was getting ready to get in, I saw blogging heavyweight, Shari Cruz. Shari blogs on a relatively unknown blog- Misteryosa.com. She was waiting for the other blog kids, and since there weren’t a lot of people upstairs, she decided to grab a good dose of Makati’s fresh air. Not long after that, Marcelle (mentalist, magician and now-former-DJ extraordinaire) and Juned .

A few minutes later, Dr. Tess arrived! So there. Finally, after not talking to her through 2 blogger meet ups – I’m um, finally did! Arbet Bernardo joined us on the bench as well (words said to each other: zero). Shari took this opportunity to leave and meet with the kiddiebloggers who were waiting for her (and each other) at Glorietta. Ederic made his grand entrance not long after. Since the owner and author of Tinig.com is already an official of the A-listers’ clique, he gamely asked me to go up with him and ‘mingle’ with the other early birds. We took the third table – a very strategic position since it gives us a perfect vantage point for the arriving people and of course, the food servers would be able to give us our plates before everyone else. Rick Manzano - Manila’s self-proclaimed messiah- sat next to Ederic. Coy doesn’t have class on Wednesdays so it’s quite nice of him for to go to Makati (from Cavite). But then again, he did win something.

The Atheista fans club Kiddie Club soon went in full force. Kevin (straight from a one night stand with Mariang Makiling), Jhed (the month-long vote-for-me campaign worked!), Heneroso (anorexic blogging superstar), Alan (who seems to have taken his pseudonym too seriously. Shari of course served as their troop leader. Poyt (another vlogger) arrived in her gothic glory.

Chris Haravata together with his wife, Apples (the brains behind the food blog Kubiertos). This time, Chris didn’t have to hold up his hand for ten seconds – unlike what happened during the Philippine Blog Awards.

Bloggers were asked to go in front and say something about themselves. No, I didn’t tell them I’m a med student, collegiate debater, sports enthusiast and a vocalist and lyricist for a hard rock band.

This is how it went.

Hi, my name is Benj from Atheista.net! If you’ve been to my blog, you would know that I run the friendliest blog. If you want to make friends, visit my blog – Atheista.net. Thanks

I bet nobody (who knew me) expected me to say so few sentences. Haha.

Sexy Mom dressed in style – show stopper would be an understatement. She surprised me by asking if I could pose with her for a photo. I can’t wait to steal that pic! haha. I also met AJ after the party. I know he’s one of the MyJournal pioneers – I used MyJournal briefly as well. Dressed to kill to T! Anitokid also went around while giving away some of his green business cards.

Gibbs fed us all for the afterparty! Thanks. Sorry I had to leave early.

Thank you Ma’am Janette! It was great for you the best up-and-comers.
