Countdown To the World Championships: Get To Know UP Manila C

In an effort to further publicize and drum up support for the teams going to the Worlds Universities Debate Championships in Assumption University, Thailand, I will be posting short profiles and interviews of some of the Filipino teams who will face the best of what the rest of the world has to offer.
I think it’s only proper to start with UP Manila C. This team is the tandem of Aya Bautista and Patricia Factor.
Aya is a currently a junior sophomore (thanks for the heads up, Alvina) at the College of Arts and Sciences. The highlights of Aya’s debating career include reaching the octofinals of the 2007 National Debate Championship and semifinals of the 2007 UP Intervarsities.
Patricia is the UP Manila Debate Circle’s incumbent Prime Minister (i.e. club president). She has years of debating experience that extends to her high school days. Earlier this year, this freshman from the College of Medicine reached the octofinals of the 2007 National Debate Championship.
Aya and Patricia will surely get tons of quality teammate bonding time given the fact that they’re the only girls in UP Manila’s delegation. And judging from the photo above… Ok, I won’t even elaborate, I might get into trouble. Hehe

Benj: How do you feel about representing UP Manila and the Philippines in the World Championship?
Patricia: I feel super excited. This would serve as the culmination of my debate life
I mean, it’s the Worlds for crying out loud right?
Benj: What do you seek to achieve and what have you done to improve your chances?
Patricia: I just want to have fun and learn from the whole experience. Breaking wouldn’t be so bad either.
Benj: What can you say about your teammate?
Patricia: Aya is really fun to be with, and no doubt she’ll make this WUDC experience a breeze. Looking forward to themed outfits
Benj: Other than the debates, what do you look forward to the most in Thailand?
Patricia: Shopping! and Thai street food

So there. Thank you Patricia for your time. Good luck to you and Aya!
