What I find interesting is that the text in the comic strip may be seen in light of realpolitik in the modern century, where secular movements motivated by politics and economics prevail. And if religions have secular bases, then the Pope is correct.
Throughout history, religion has become the poor excuse for savagery. Maybe that’s why it was invented.
