After languishing in the middle for many weeks, Tubbataha has broken through to claim the seventh spot in New7Wonders.org’s quest to list the seven new Natural Wonders of the World. Despite the fact that less than 0.1% of the Philippine population has seen this wonder - heck, I haven’t even met another blogger who’s also a scuba diver— Tubbataha Reef is in good position to land inside the Top 21 slots by year’s end. The twenty-one candidates with the most number  of votes will advance to the public voting stage wherein people from all over the world will be allowed to cast their vote online and via SMS.

Sharing the top spots with Tubbataha is Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, Cox’s Bazaar in Bangladesh,  Ganges River in Bangladesh and India, Mount Fuji in Japan, Mount Everest in China and Nepal and the Amazon Rain Forest in South America.

Notable wonders in the running include the USA’s Grand Canyon  (#16) and Niagara Falls  (with Canada, #17) and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef (#21).

I believe that the Tubbataha Reef has not yet harnessed the power of the full force of it’s natural beauty to garner other people’s votes but from what I can see today at # 7, it is not far that by the end of the quest, the Tubbataha will make it to the top 7 wonders of the world. I am also hoping that other entries will make it to the top spot because it will add up to the tourism industry of the Philippines.

  My personal bet is the Tubbataha Reef in Palawan and I am visitng other blogs to promote my post and the other 3 entries by the Philippines, hoping that with my blog I may be able to get other Filipinos around the world to vote for out entries, especially the Tubbataha Reef.

  Who removed chocolate hills from the list? and Mayon ( was it there?) I know that it should be there but I don’t know for some reasons that should be investigated not when I was doing the vote. I checked it today it is backed again at number 9 next to Tubbataha. Don’t forget to include the other nominees including the one in Puerto Princesa. Don’t vote for any which is in the top 78 list because they are our opponents. Africa mught be a good choice for the rest.
