A Baby’s Severed Head

Later tonight in Imbestigador, GMA 7 will once again make television history for being incredibly stupid. They would sensationalize how a baby’s head was severed from the rest of the body during delivery and at the same breath, blame the doctors for that event. The teasers are pointing towards that direction.

Can you imagine someone ripping off a baby’s head to sever it along the base of the neck? That would require tearing skin, flesh, tendons, muscles and ligaments. Even if it’s just a baby, it JUST doesn’t happen. In the operating room, we are instructed to lock our fingers – forming a diamond shape — under the baby’s chin and PULL as hard as we can. We get screamed at for not pulling hard enough. It takes a lot of effort to assist in childbirth.

The head will simply not snap off… unless the baby has already been dead for quite some time. Of course, that would be incompetence on the doctors’ and nurses’ part to have not monitored the fetal heart tones and movements, but that’s a lesser crime. Claiming that they did something to sever the head of that baby and implying that they killed the baby only makes me believe that GMA 7 is simply living up to their slogan.

.

Yes, Imbestigador. You are not using your heads – just your heart.

Note: Did anyone watch this? I was out with some relatives when they aired this.

Thanks for posting this. I honestly thought it was incompetence on the doctors’ parts until you posted this.

The doctors should’ve told the mother that the baby has been dead long before it was delivered. That’s their act of incompetence.

Stupid is such a strong word. What Imbestigador does is expose these irregular (understatement) practices that are undoubtedly a matter of public interest. I have seen this segment and what rings loudly is the hospital’s gross negligence. Period. You may be correct that the baby has been dead a long time, but if you wathced closely, the baby had bruises. How could a baby that’s already dead have bruises? Also, if the baby died inside the womb, then how come the rest of her body was intact and not falling apart when they took her out?

Because doctors have to pull on the head as hard as they can?

The head was actually SEVERED, it rolled on the floor…

I hope you watched it before posting, so you don’t look as stupid.

Speaking of STUPID, you obviously don’t have any medical educational background to even know what you’re talking about. Nobody’s saying that it wasn’t severed.

What are you suggesting? The doctors used a scalpel to cut the neck? What kind of idiot are you?

Same with my Kuya’s. I nearly thought it’s the doctors who should be blamed. It’s obnoxious. Thanks for shedding some light on this.

Tsk. I honestly thought the whole thing was impossible. Babies’ heads are tougher than most people think. But what really happened?

The baby was probably dead before delivery.

If you guys could just see what happens inside an OR… you’d see that it’s a struggle. It takes a lot of effort to pull a baby out! You’d realize that the stuff you see in movies is nothing short of crap. hehe

you did not answer my question. kung patay na yung bata, magkakalasog-lasog na buong katawan nun, pati yung natira sa katawan ng nanay, falling apart na. pero bakit yung ulo lang ang natanggal? at bakit may pasa? may patay ba na nagkakapasa? lalo kung ganun na katagal (assuming you are as correct as you claim) na napuputol na ang leeg?

You actually think that the decomposition process is uniform through out the body?

The neck gave way because it was exposed to great tension and stress secondary to the pulling of whoever was attending that delivery.

Ok your theory stands. The doctors sawed off the head of that baby because they wanted to. You are a genius.

I never said they sawed her head off.

And btw, how do you explain the bruises? You haven’t explained that part yet, genius.

I am not a genius, that is why I am asking you to explain, cuz apparently you are.

“bruising” could be caused by increased bilirubin levels. Childbirth is a physically taxing experience for both the mother and child. I suggest you read up on how a childbirth is facilitated before you showcase your ignorance for everyone to see.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Childbirth < this should be simple enough for someone at your level.

The fact that the head snapped proves that the baby is in fact dead. No living baby’s head would be suddenly ripped off JUST BECAUSE someone tugged on the head.

Once the baby’s head comes out, the person in charge of the delivery would make the head face either thigh of the mother and then with fingers locked in the baby’s neck and chin, the person in charge would PULL DOWN until the shoulders and part of the torso comes out. The rest of the delivery is then finished with an upward movement.

A significant amount of force is needed to make this happen. And yes, I’ve been surprised at just HOW MUCH force a baby’s neck could take.

You are indeed a genius. You insist on being right despite not even having first hand experience on the things that you’re talking about.
