My apologies as I care to dissent.
Euthanasia will never boil down to being an economic issue. It will always be what it is, an ethical issue. Life is not as simple as switching it on or off, it pays to preserve it so long as resources permit. It may be ideal to approach economic problems pragmatically but think about it, life is more than just an economic matter.

With regards to the allocation from the national budget, it’s a reality that persons in authority are taking too much of their share, from the President, to the Congressmen, even down to the lowest-ranking barangay officials. I believe affordable health services are the least the government can do to serve the taxpayers.

Well-written. Good read.

On a personal note, I’m really thankful my parents chose to make a life here in Canada. My Dad had a kidney transplant 2 and half years ago (my sister was the donor)… but prior to that, lots of kidney dialysis sessions and treatment for other health problems. All of that was pretty much covered by the excellent health care here. Drugs, etc. Hardly paid for anything.

There are lots of pre-work to avoid having people end up being sick, broke or in grief. A lot of work to fill the bottom of Maslow’s hierarchy for most of population. A paradigm shift isn’t the solution. Some “body” has to tip this action.

I’ve played Uno Stacko with some friends. The stack won’t build up by itself nor can it be built abruptly by a single hand. At least a set of hands should pick up the pieces and rebuild it.

Why don’t we just legalize euthanasia and get over with it? The older generation is beyond salvation, so let’s just end their misery immediately!
