Just started. :)

Red just finished talking about practical freethinking. :)

We are now doing a game show! Identify the freethinker!

Now reading messages from Dan Barker, Hemant Mehta.

John Pariaso is now talking. He’s one of the elder statesmen of Filipino Freethinking (both online and offline) and is also a veteran of many Luneta debates. He’s talking about FREETHINKING IN THE GRASS ROOTS.

Happy Birthday Friendly Atheist!

It’s Hemant Mehta‘s birthday today!  Hemant is the blogger behind one of the most popular atheism-related blogs – Friendly Atheist. I was surprised to find out that he’s only a couple of years older than me at age 26.

Maligayang Bati Hemant Mehta!

Wolfgang Blogger Interview – Plus Other Concert Details

pulp-wolfgangl

Wolfgang’s much anticipated Two Sides Live concert with Razorback is only weeks away and the local blogosphere has been buzzing with articles in Music Picks, Rockersworld and Rockfem among others. The band has also been tearing it up on local and cable channels with their features on MYX and MTV that it’s almost easy to forget that Basti Artadi isn’t even in the Philippines right now! Aside from this, Wolfgang is one of the main acts featured in this month’s edition of Pulp Magazine (cover image above) and the band has already been named as No Fear’s official endorsers fro 2009! They’re definitely blitzing through media as well as finding their way on to billboards in EDSA and Ortigas.

All this effort and attention puts great emphasis on how epic the March 19 concert at Music Museum can potentially be. It combines the two strong pillars of Wolfgang’s varied and legendary body of work for a night of music that is truly going to go down as one of the most memorable concerts of all time. Ticket Information For The Wolfgang Concert.

Another US-based blogger, Redante, put together a great set of questions for Wolfgang to answer in an e-mail interview. Manuel Legarda and Basti Artadi were more than happy to quickly respond.

Redante: How does it feel to release a brand new album as Wolfgang? How does it feel to release it as an indie album rather than through a major label?

BASTI: It feels great. We weren’t even planning on doing an album but once I heard Manuels riffs it started the ball rolling. I automatically said wait a minute there is something here that needs to be completed by us these riffs are too good to go to Razorback haha!

MANUEL: I was active just enough to scratch the itch. It feels great to have an album out again. I also really like the fact that we did this without a record label

BASTI: Again it is a great feeling because now the ball is in our court, we get to make decisions about our music and we get to see the outcome of those decisions not some guy in an office somewhere who couldn’t give two shits about any of it.

Please point to Redante’s blog for Wolfgang’s full interview.

Headshot Clinic has been nothing short of a sensation the past few months. Being the social networking site-crazy people that we all are, Pinoys are always in the quest for the perfect profile picture. Niccolo Cosme – the guy behind Headshot Clinic — has been churning out thousands of headshots in support of many worthwhile causes like HIV awareness and this new project is no different.

Be part of the new Project Headshot Series!

The team behind the successful Project Headshot Clinic has a new advocacy. Headed by visionary photographer, Niccolo Cosme, the new series aims to promote unity of the Pinoy Youth. Through each participant’s headshot photo, they recognize that they belong to one barkada, sharing the same hopes, dreams and aspirations of oneness.

This timely advocacy will gather different youths across the country — gathering high school and college students and young professionals from Baguio to Davao.

You can be one of almost 2,000 youth advocates that we are taking photos of for free.  Together, let us send the message of unity – one headshot at a time.

Mark Your Calendars: Filipino Freethinkers Forum This Saturday!

Filipino Freethinkers

It’s finally here! After weeks of planning and organizing, the First Filipino Freethinkers forum will be held on Saturday afternoon (February 28, 2009 1-4PM) at Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street’s U-View Theater. Registration for the event is still on going, but due to the logistical limitations of the venue, we are limited to a capacity of around 65. The forum itself is free and snacks will be served.

Fully Booked U-View

It would be a great chance to touch base and get to know fellow freethinkers. This should be a welcome opportunity for people who have never met another freethinker in his lifetime. Circumstances and statistics have made us live in relative isolation so I do hope that you freethinkers out there would recognize the chance that this event presents.

How to get to the venue:

The venue is in Bonifacio High Street – two rows of specialty shops near Serendra and Market! Market!. It’s reachable by any of the following major roads – Kalayaan Flyover (from Quezon City) or McKinley Road (from Makati) or C-5 (from South Manila).

Some members would be coming from different parts  of the city so if you want to organize a carpool, you may coordinate with the other attendees via the Filipino Freethinkers Mailing List.

To get to Fully Booked Bonifacio High Street by public transport, you may take the MRT to the Ayala Avenue station. Once there, cross EDSA and look for the bus/jeepney terminal near the Shell station. From there, you may take a bus/jeep bound for Market! Market!

For those overseas or in other parts of the country

You may also catch the event via live stream on the Filipino Freethinkers channel on Justin.tv. Keep in mind that the event is scheduled on February 28, 2009 1-4PM +0800 GMT.

If you can’t log in at that time, we would also be uploading the forum over Youtube. :)
